Professor Norris Named Recipient of the ASA Trent-Crede Medal
Professor Norris Named Recipient of the Acoustical Society of America (ASA) Trent-Crede Medal for his contribution to the science of mechanical vibration and shock.
Professor Norris' research areas include developing fundamental mechanical models for metamaterials that exhibit extraordinary wave bearing properties, elastic wave scattering, effective medium theories, nonlinear acoustic and elastic waves, acoustic scattering and structural vibration, seismic waves, borehole acoustics, entropic elasticity of macromolecules, electromechanical properties of polymers, modeling of poroelastic media, surface mechanics, and inverse scattering.
Professor Norris is a fellow of ASA, and he currently serves on the ASA committees on Structural Acoustics and Vibrations and ASA Books.
