Certificate Programs

Accordion Content

  • The certificate in advanced manufacturing prepares students enrolled in the MAE master's program to apply their mechanical engineering education to roles in advanced manufacturing research, management, and policy.

Mechanical engineering provides the fundamental basis necessary for many areas of conventional and next-generation advanced manufacturing. The program offers a rigorous and in depth exposure to the broad set of core disciplines required in these fieldsthrough targeted courses and strategically paired electives from our department and others.

By leverage existing resources, including existing courses (see below) and resources such as the MAE faculty’s expertise and state-of-the-art research and teaching laboratories in the MAE Department, students will be prepared to be practicing professionals through specialized coursework and research (M.Sc.) or a capstone engineering project (M.Eng).

    Curriculum and Courses

  • The certificate in Robotics is to prepare students enrolled in the MAE master's program for their career path in robotics-related jobs in industry, government R&D centers and future graduate studies.

The program offers a rigorous and in depth exposure to scientific and engineering fundamentals in the broad set of core disciplines required in robotics-related fields.

Taking advantage of existing courses and resources within the MAE department, including the faculty’s expertise and state-of-the-art research and teaching laboratories related to robotics and mechatronics, students will be trained to be practicing professionals through specialized coursework and an in-depth research (M.Sc.) or a capstone engineering project (M.Eng).

    Curriculum and Courses

  • The certificate in space systems prepares students enrolled in the MAE master's program to enter the space industry, government space research and development centers.

The program offers a rigorous and in depth exposure to scientific and engineering fundamentals in the broad set of core disciplines required in space-related fields.

Taking advantage primarily of existing courses (see below) and resources, including the MAE faculty’s expertise and state-of-the-art research and teaching laboratories in the MAE Department, students will be prepared to be practicing professionals through specialized coursework and an in-depth research (M.Sc.) or a capstone project (M.Eng.).

    Curriculum and Courses

  • The proposed self-standing certificate in Additive Manufacturing has the goal of preparing students to have comprehensive understanding of 3D printing for their roles in advanced manufacturing industry and management. This certificate offered by the School of Engineering through the NJ Advanced Manufacturing Institute (NJAMI) will offer comprehensive overview of many different AM technologies from fundamental science to applications. Admission Requirements:

The admission requirements for the certificate program are:

    • BS degree in STEM field
    • GPA of 3.0 or above (Those with slightly lower GPAs but with three or more years of industry experience may also be considered)
