Internships and Co-ops
The department offers cooperative education programs (co-op) and internships to allow students to gain work experience in their field. Please see handbook for details.
Cooperative Education Program in MAE (650:496/497)
Co-ops offer up to six academic credit and usually occur over the course of six months, with the student generally working full time and assuming specific responsibilities within the company.
- The co-ops can be taken in the fall or spring semester, combined with the proceeding or succeeding summer months, to give the required 6 months of continuous on-the-job experience.
- A faculty advisor oversees the course application form and assigns the final grade.
- Credits can be earned towards technical elective requirements for the ME or AE degree.
Internships in MAE (650:495)
Internships offer academic up to three academic credits and usually occur over the course of three months.
- Internships can be taken anytime during the academic year or during the summer break.
- A faculty advisor oversees the course application form and assigns the final grade.
- Credits can be earned towards technical elective requirements for the ME or AE degree.
