A major international conference, CHT-15 – the 6th International Symposium on Advances in Computational Heat Transfer, was hosted by Rutgers University, from May 24 - 29, 2015. Professor Yogesh Jaluria was the conference chair and Professor Zhixiong (James) Guo was the technical program chair. They were supported by several professors at Rutgers University as members of the organizing committee. An International Advisory Board was also involved in advising the conference organizers and in reviewing the papers.

The MAE Department is pleased to announce Mona Zebarjadi, assistant professor of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering, received the A. Walter Tyson Assistant Professorship Award. The Tyson fund was established by A. Walter Tyson, a 1952 alumnus of Rutgers for recruiting promising junior faculty.

The MAE Department is pleased to announce Prosenjit Bagchi, professor of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering, was honored with the Peter D. Cherasia Faculty Scholar Award. Established by Peter D. Cherasia ENG’84, this award recognizes and fosters excellence in teaching and scholarly activity in highly quantitative and computational aspects of engineering research related to financial problems.

Congratulations go out to the mechanical and aerospace engineering AIAA (American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics) team for a great finish at the international AUVSI (Association for Unmanned Vehicle Systems International) Student Unmanned Aerial Systems Challenge. Out of 48 registered teams from around the world, including India, Romania, Canada, Germany, Turkey, and Israel, the team placed seventh overall. The team also received special recognition this year for outstanding sportsmanship after lending some mission critical equipment to another team.

For the academic year 2014-2015, Rutgers School of Engineering welcomes six new faculty members to mechanical and aerospace engineering, civil and environmental engineering, chemical and biochemical engineering, and electrical and computer engineering.
