Professor Jingang Yi leads a new NSF FW-HTF research project

Prof. Jingang Yi leads a new research project entitled "Wearable Safety Sensing and Assistive Robot-Worker Collaboration for an Augmented Workforce in Construction" that was recently funded by National Science Foundation (NSF) through its Future of Work at the Human-Technology Frontier program. The project is one of the 14 NSF’s new `Future of Work’ research projects. The project focuses on development of wearable safety sensing and assistive robot-worker collaboration for an augmented workforce, thereby improving worker retention and attracting women and young workers to construction careers. The project will be conducted by a multi-disciplinary team at Rutgers University, Louisiana State University (LSU), Baton Rouge Community College, and a few industrial partners in New Jersey and Louisiana. This collaborative project is led by Rutgers (Prof. Yi as the PI) and Prof. Chao Wang in construction management is the PI at LSU. The project starts in October 2022 and is for three years with a total fund of $1.8 million (Rutgers’ share is $1.08 million).
