Student Experience
Mechanical and aerospace engineering students are part of a connected community with faculty and researchers.
Real World Experience
The mechanical and aerospace engineering program at Rutgers provides students with a focused engineering education along with specialization in the interest areas of aeorspace and energy. We believe that a solid foundation of mathematical, scientific, and technical knowledge provides students with opportunities for meaningful research and prepares them for a globally competitive, diverse workplace.
Internships provide practical professional experience in business and industrial settings. Students work in teams on senior design projects, putting clasroom learning to real-life use.

Research Opportunities
Mechanical & Aerospace Engineering students tackle issues of global importance, communicate ideas, and envision projects and solutions that make the world a better place to live.
Once in the program, they have access to state-of-the-art equipment in nearly 20 advanced labs and centers to apply their classroom learning in creating designs and conducting experiments.
Rutgers MAE students can focus their efforts on a host of cutting-edge research including:
- Design and control
- Solid mechanics
- Materials and structures
- Fluid mechanics
- Thermal science
- Mechanobiology
- Robotics
- Unmanned vehicles
