Rutgers student Daulton James receives SMART Scholarship

Daulton James, an MAE senior, has recently been awarded the prestigious DOD SMART Scholarship. The SMART scholarship provides funds for a student to cover the costs associated with graduate studies with a stipend. As part of this scholarship, Daulton will spend his summers as an intern at the U.S. Army Aberdeen Proving Grounds in Maryland. Following completion of his graduate studies, Daulton will continue as an employee with Aberdeen. Daulton’s research at Rutgers will comprise of studying oblique shock-vortex interactions within the Emil Buehler Supersonic Wind Tunnel, under the advisement of MAE Professor Ed DeMauro, using stereoscopic particle image velocimetry. In addition to receiving this honor, Daulton is also the leader of a team of Rutgers students who have been awarded a NASA University Student Research Challenge grant to develop sustainable commercial airline technology.
