Professor Jaluria co-chairs international conference

Professor Yogesh Jaluria was co-chair of the 8th International Symposium on Advances in Computational Heat Transfer, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, August 15-19, 2021. It was a virtual conference with around 150 participants from over 25 countries, 105 contributed papers, 13 keynote talks, a short course, and a workshop on publications. This is a major international conference held around the world every 2-3 years. The 6th conference was held at Rutgers University in 2015 and the 7th one at Napoli, Italy, in 2017, with Professor Jaluria as the chair/co-chair for both. The conference is sponsored by the International Center for Heat and Mass Transfer and several other co-sponsors. Though virtual, effort was made to bring in the flavor of the beautiful city of Rio de Janeiro, through virtual tours, slides, and names for different spaces. Professor Jaluria also presented an invited plenary talk at the 15th International Conference on Heat Transfer, Fluid Mechanics and Thermodynamics (HEFAT 2021), Amsterdam, the Netherlands, July 25-28, 2021. The talk was entitled, “Multiple Length and Time Scales in Thermal Transport Processes.” The focus was on thermal systems, particularly those related to materials processing and manufacturing. Because of Covid, the conference was conducted online. But it had over 400 attendees from around the world. The talk generated a lot of interest and discussion, since this is an area of considerable research activity in the thermal science and engineering.
