NASA Internship Launches MAE Student's Ambitions

Bobby Randolph, MAE senior and a member of the Honors College, discovered his love of flying and mechanics working in an aircraft maintenance shop of a local airport and take flight lessons during his high school years.

He was able to parlay his experience working in Prof. Aaron Mazzeo's lab into an internship further researching In-Space Additive Manufacturing at NASA’s Marshall Space Flight Center in Huntsville, AL. This past summer, he returned to NASA to work on structural health monitoring and capacitive sensing —technology which may one day be used for deep space habitats as well as applications on the ground.
